The JPA Profiler for Patient Advocacy Relations

New Tool Helps Industry Capture, Track and Map the Patient Groups that Align with Strategic Business Goals.

Patient advocacy groups (PAG) are instrumental in helping patients gain access to better information, education and services about their illness, as well as to the medicines they need. Forward‐thinking pharmaceutical companies understand that strategic, collaborative initiatives with advocates can not only meet patient needs, but also benefit the company.

Although every product portfolio has different needs in terms of advocacy development, the JPA Profiler can be modified to help support key marketing objectives:

1. Collect critical, current information

We employ our tried and true approach to intelligence gathering. With your unique needs in mind, JPA will identify key collection points — such as basic organizational information, policy positions and perceived influence — that inform a comprehensive audit of PAGs. Built upon our extensive institutional knowledge, desktop research and conversations with organizational leadership, we are able to map the advocacy landscape in a way that brings value to your team.

From this research, JPA creates a roadmap for engagement. This includes a series of introductory, one‐on‐one meetings that will provide key insights into those areas with the greatest potential to make an impact.

2. Ensuring the data collected is kept current and usable

The JPA Profiler, an Excel‐based application, creates a comprehensive, intelligible and logically‐structured view of patient advocacy groups segmented by brand, therapeutic area, region, roles and level of influence. In this way, the Profiler becomes a “living” document—allowing you to continue to populate profiles with new insights and intelligence—and a mechanism to sort key information.

3. Use what we learn to build strategic, meaningful partnerships

JPA has proven experience building mutually beneficial partnerships between the healthcare industry and the patient advocacy communities. Using the key learnings from the mapping and our approach to nurturing and enhancing relationships, we work with you to build partnerships that support your brand, build your corporate image and serve the needs of the patient community.

While many agency and in‐house staff are able to conduct advocacy audits, our extensive experience mapping the advocacy landscape and unique Profiler tool have proven especially useful for clients looking for strategic insights into a specific market or unique focus.
