Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes

Comprise of 28 national organizations and 49 local/state networks, Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes is the first voluntary, national effort to measure quality by setting attainable and quality-focused goals to encourage improvements in care for nursing home residents across the country.

JPA was selected in a competitive bid to develop comprehensive communication messages and craft a communication strategy to guide the coalition as it moved into year three of its campaign. JPA utilized its propriety Coalition Quad© to ensure participation and garner alignment from the vast array of coalition members. Once the messages were developed, JPA crafted a comprehensive and creative communication strategy to support the coalition going forward.

Challenge

  • Facilitate collaboration among 28 diverse coalition members, including long-term care providers, caregivers, medical and quality improvement experts, consumers and government agencies for the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes campaign

Insight

  • Given the size and diversity of the group, the development process needed to ensure that every coalition member had the opportunity to be heard and participate

Strategy

  • Secure consensus among coalition members and build alignment in a diverse, multi-faceted organization using the Coalition Quad©, one of JPA’s proprietary tools to support the industry and patient advocates

Success

  • Developed four core messages with extensive supporting points that were pulled through all campaign materials, including individual campaign and coalition members’ communications
