In 2006, Massachusetts became the first in the nation to mandate nearly every resident obtain a minimum level of healthcare insurance coverage.  Six years later, the nation followed suit. Today the Bay State achieved yet another first by passing S 2400, the first effort by a state to curb the projected costs of universal healthcare coverage.

Earlier today, the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to uphold the hotly-debated Affordable Care Act as constitutional. The Court concluded that the individual health insurance mandate – central to the Act's success – falls within Congress' power to 'lay and collect taxes.'

Yet another annual gathering of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has drawn to a close, the behemoth oncology meeting that never ceases to impress first time attendees.
