Every once and awhile we are asked, “Why isn’t Jones Public Affairs called Jones Public Relations?” It’s simple. Public relations is the profession of working with reporters to earn free media while public affairs is the practice of those issues involving the interrelationship between the public and influencers. 

At JPA, we recognize the role influencers have in engaging people in their field. In healthcare communications, this encompasses patient advocates, policy makers, medical experts, social networks and reporters. 

JPA’s influencer relations model explains it best, displaying the importance of working across key the stakeholders who drive change.
