Carrie Jones, Principal

Carrie Jones is a seasoned communications specialist with considerable experience in women’s health, oncology and chronic disease management. Over the course of her career, she has developed numerous initiatives for pharmaceutical and non-profit clients in the areas of advocacy, consumer education, policy, product support and launch, image development and media relations.

Ken Deutsch, Executive Vice President

Ken Deutsch leads the Boston, Mass., office and heads the digital and social media practice. A seasoned public affairs strategist and issue campaign manager, Ken has been implementing digital strategies over the last 20 years. Ken’s tenure in this space puts him at the forefront of digital public affairs.

Michael O'Brien, Executive Vice President, Managing Director

Michael O’Brien heads healthcare public relations and communications in our Washington, D.C. office. His 20 years of experience includes leadership roles in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He specializes in product, service and policy issues within numerous therapeutic areas, science and R&D communications; external-internal communications; reputation management; and corporate citizenship.

Diane Wass

Diane Wass, Managing Director

Diane leads JPA Health Communications Europe, based in London. Diane has 20 years’ experience in policy, communications and medical education with a flair for stakeholder relations to inspire and unite people around a common goal. International, European and UK experience in a number of senior roles in leading blue-chip pharmaceutical and consumer good companies, as well as experience as a Non-Executive Board Director for a small, innovative technology company and a senior communications role in a UK medicines trade association. Diane gained her D.Phil. in Physiology from Oxford University in the world-leading Oxford Diabetes Group, funded by Diabetes UK. She also has an MBA. Since that time she has worked across multiple therapy areas in oncology, chronic and infectious disease.
Patrick Brady

Patrick Brady, Senior Vice President

Patrick Brady brings more than two decades of experience of creating integrated public affairs campaigns for Fortune 100 companies, government entities and grassroots organizations. As a senior vice president at JPA, Patrick capitalizes on his experience to increase awareness of clients' issues among targeted audiences, industry stakeholders, media and elected officials.

Berna Diehl

Berna Diehl, Senior Vice President

Berna Diehl brings nearly two decades of communications experience to JPA, specializing in healthcare communications and strategic media relations. Berna has spent time in both the agency and non-profit setting, and has provided support to organizations in various arenas, including cardiovascular health, aging, women’s health and the pharmaceutical industry.

David Connolly

David Connolly, Senior Vice President

David brings nearly 20 years of experience developing and executing strategic communications plans for biotech, biopharma and medical device companies, as well as health care systems, hospitals and providers. As a PR practitioner, David is passionate about crafting programs for launching venture-backed biotech start-ups. He is well versed in media relations, corporate communications, investor relations, social media, content marketing, presentation development and more.


Nicole Franklin, Vice President

Nicole has 15 years of experience in communications, developing multifaceted public relations programs, launching new products, creating strategic social media campaigns, building third-party relationships and managing crisis communications. She has expertise in FDA approvals, advocacy relations, issues management, media programs and celebrity-driven consumer campaigns.




Nic DiBella, Account Director

Nic DiBella is a compelling storyteller and media strategist who has worked in the healthcare technology and communications space for more than five years. His extensive experience includes healthcare advocacy, stakeholder engagement and content strategy development. Nic works with clients in advocate and media relations and clinical trial recruitment. Nic uses his strong communications skills as a writer and content producer to reach audiences with engaging content that informs and drives desired actions.


Sarah Dick, Account Director

With nearly 10 years of experience, Sarah Dick is a skilled communicator focusing primarily on healthcare and consumer health. She combines a creative and down-to-earth leadership approach with a focus on research, analysis and planning. From makers of diapers to pharmaceuticals, she has helped her clients navigate consumer targeting and engagement, stakeholder relationships, international regulatory environments, market entry landscapes and multiple industry-standard approval systems.


Carolyn Sobczyk, Account Director

Carolyn Sobczyk specializes in health care communications and fosters development of strategic partnerships that result in positive outcomes for her clients, the advocacy community and, ultimately, the patient. She applies her experience in a range of disease states in the rare disease and oncology space to support her biopharma clients.


Melissa Zuckerman, Account Director

Holding an M.A. in integrated marketing communications and a certificate in project management, Melissa is well-versed in both the academic and practical aspects of planning and executing comprehensive programs that engage target audiences across channels to achieve business and communications goals. Melissa specializes in strategic communications, planning and research, branding, message and materials development, partnership outreach, media relations, digital strategy, and event planning.
