Ken Deutsch

Senior Vice President

As senior vice president at Jones Public Affairs, Ken Deutsch leads the Cambridge, Mass., office and heads the digital and social media practice.  A seasoned public affairs strategist and issue campaign manager, Ken has been implementing digital strategies over the last 20 years.  Ken’s tenure in this space puts him at the forefront of digital public affairs.  Throughout his career, Ken has repeatedly been the first public affairs professional to successfully integrate digital components into campaigns, including the development of media relations websites, digital campaigns to influence elected officials and blogger outreach activities.

Ken uses his extensive knowledge of interactive media platforms to leverage digital strategies on behalf of JPA’s clients that target the right influencers with the right messages to achieve measurable results.

Prior to joining JPA, Ken served as director of strategic services and partnerships at Morningside Analytics where he oversaw the application of analytical research tools for targeting, messaging and tracking the impact of online campaigns.  He also served as senior vice president of public affairs at Virilion, and the president and founder of the nonprofit Direct Change, which created online campaigns in support of charitable organizations in Africa.

Ken’s online focus grew out of his experience that included serving as organizing director at Public Citizen and the New York Public Interest Research Group.  He also served as the campaign manager for 1992 Draft Nader for President Campaign and was the principle field organizer for Earth Day New York City 1990 (one of the largest political demonstrations in history).

Ken developed and managed the Internet practice at Issue Dynamics from 1993 to 2006.  In that capacity, Ken was one of the first in the 1990’s to foresee and utilize the Web as a public affairs tool.

Ken received his Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.
